Users of Internet Explorer should expect a special security update sometime within the next 24 hours.

Microsoft is issuing some special patches outside of the normal Patch Tuesday updates, to fix a raft of software issues. At least one of the problems would allow remote control of a user's computer.

Microsoft advises this security update is rated Critical for all supported releases of Internet Explorer: Internet Explorer 5.01, InternetExplorer 6 Service Pack 1, Internet Explorer 6 on Windows clients, InternetExplorer 7, and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows clients. For Internet Explorer 6on Windows servers, this update is rated Important. And for Internet Explorer 8on Windows servers, this update is rated Moderate.

The updates will require you to restart your computer.
