Assassin's Creed going social?
On the face of it, the intricate, highly engaging stealth action experience of Assassin's Creed couldn't be much more different from the smiling, happy, dead-eyed indifference of social games like Farmville.
However, that hasn’t stopped Ubisoft from announcing they will offer a mobile version of Assassin's Creed to help launch the upcoming ‘Gree’ social gaming platform.
We’d never heard of Gree, but apparently it’s due to launch in the second quarter of 2012. According to the company website, the goal of the platform is ‘to make social gaming meaningful’, a noble if somewhat futile venture.
Based in Japan, Gree already reaches over 150 million players through other platforms it has acquired. Deloitte ranked Gree as Japan’s fastest-growing tech company in 2010.
