A growing demand for Instructure’s Canvas learning management system from Australian educators is now being met with the opening of the APAC headquarters in Tank Stream Labs in Sydney.
Joining the new APAC site are several new strategic appointments including Julian Ridden as Open Education Evangelist and Troy Martin as Director of APAC.
“We are committed to modern education in Australia, and want to partner with institutions that want to bring their teaching and learning into 21st Century,” says Troy Martin, Director APAC, Canvas by Instructure.
“Our rapidly growing team will support existing customers as well as reach out to more schools, universities, TAFES and RTOs across Australia.”
New Zealand and other countries in the APAC region will also benefit from the more local approach, Martin says.
“There’s definitely room for disruption in the APAC region," he adds.
"Now that we’ve got people on the ground in the Australia and New Zealand market, we are much better equipped to help schools, universities and other places of education across New Zealand, Australia and the rest of Asia implement great technology to help with learning and teaching.”
Canvas allows educators to integrate the vast education marketplace of third-party apps and multimedia features into their course content, using a cloud-based platform. Entry into the Australian and wider APAC market builds upon the success of Canvas in the US and UK.
One institution using the Canvas learning management system is Newington College in Sydney.
“One of the greatest challenges with deploying any technology across an organisation is getting people to use it,” Sean Corcoran, Head of Teaching and Learning at Newington College, adds.
“Canvas is so user friendly that the entire school community has really embraced the unique learning tool.
"Since its implementation, Canvas has dramatically improved the richness of teaching and learning at our school.”
