CORE Education to lead NZ Learning Technologies Advisory
Fri, 12th Dec 2014
FYI, this story is more than a year old

CORE Education will lead the Ministry of Education's Learning Technologies Advisory (LTA) initiative.

Over the next three years, CORE Education will help New Zealand schools maximise the potential of ultra-fast broadband, the managed network and digital technologies.

LTA will be available from term one 2015 and will help schools develop and sustain e-learning capabilities including strategy design, purchasing, and building the professional capabilities of teachers.

Facilitators will work directly with schools on behalf of the ministry. A help desk will be available on multiple channels, and professional learning activities for specific needs will be provided.

Karen Melhuish Spencer, LTA, project leader, says, “The LTA is intended to support the transformation of education practice across all New Zealand-based schools and kura.

“The networked nature of the advisory will mean we can provide a cohesive, connected service across the country. We'll draw on the strength of our relationships with schools and educational organisations to ensure our guidance is tailored to suit the needs of schools and kura,” she says.

CORE Education is a not-for-profit organisation with over 180 employees, focused on the learning needs of New Zealand students. The organisation works with the Ministry of Education on strategic projects, providing short courses, programmes, resources and consultancy work.

Nick Billowes, CORE Education, director and founder, says, “CORE Education is known in the industry to push the boundaries of educational possibility. We have very experienced staff to carry out this work for the Ministry. Our values and beliefs certainly align with this initiative.
