Countdown begins for Nethui 2012
InternetNZ has opened registrations for its second NetHui conference, inviting stakeholders from all walks of life to attend and have their say about issues relating to the internet in New Zealand.
Although the speakers haven’t been announced yet, with registration costing only $40 organisers expect the event will still meet its capacity of 500 delegates quickly.
Vikram Kumar, chief executive of InternetNZ, says a number of improvements have been made following last year’s inaugural event.
"Panel and open mic sessions have been reinvigorated and a stream of ‘get to know the basics’ sessions have been added to help interested participants to widen their understanding of internet-related topics,” Kumar says.
"There are even more networking opportunities and we are working with other groups to bring some great associated events targeting innovation and creativity.”
Discussion sessions will cover topics like digital copyright, accessibility and human rights, online safety and security, online health services, technology in education, and issues for artists and content producers.
For those who can’t attend, the event will also be streamed online.
NetHui 2012 will take place on July 11-13, at Auckland’s SkyCity Convention Centre. Go here for more.
