Ditch the disc: Xbox One S All-Digital Edition lands in NZ next month
From August 1, the Xbox family will grow just that little bit bigger, as Microsoft gets set to release the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition.
It’s set to be a version of the Xbox One S with one distinctive difference: it has no disc drive. That may herald something of a goodbye to physical discs of old and hello Xbox Game Pass – at least where Xbox is concerned.
Although Xbox announced the console back in April, it will finally land in New Zealand next month – with pre-orders starting this week.
The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition was created for those who prefer to find and play their games digitally and comes with three of the most compelling and popular games of this console generation – Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3 and Sea of Thieves.
At Xbox, we’re inspired by gamers – they’re at the centre of everything we do. We’re constantly listening to your feedback and looking for new ways to provide the best value and choice in gaming,” Xbox’s general manager of platform and devices marketing, Jeff Gattis, said in a blog post back in April.
“Consumer appetite for digital content and experiences are stronger today than ever before. Gaming and technology have changed quite a bit since the first Xbox debuted in 2001.”
“During this time, we’ve seen a digital transformation across gaming, music, TV and movies. And closer to home, the success of Xbox Game Pass, which gives members access to over 100 great games, is just another example of how consumers today have grown to expect great digital content.”
The console will also offer plenty of choice from the Microsoft Store, such as Netflix, Amazon, and ‘thousands’ of Xbox One games.
“The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition was created for those who prefer to find and play their games digitally and are looking for the most affordable way to play Xbox games.”
“We’re always grateful to our fans for their continued support and look forward to continuing to bring you a diverse line of best-in-class hardware to fulfil all of your gaming needs,” concludes Gattis.
The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will be available to pre-order for NZ$399 from July 22 at Microsoft Store, Harvey Norman, The Warehouse and PB Tech.
