The long-awaited Facebook iPad app has finally been released, after long delays and rumours of internal disagreements.

According to an entry on the Facebook blog, the app gives users ‘the full Facebook experience, right at your fingertips'.

"Many of you have been asking about Facebook for iPad,” writes Facebook's Leon Dubinsky.

"Today, it's finally here.

The app has been rumoured since the launch of the iPad early last year. Just last month, reports suggested the app was completed as early as May, but was held back due to strained relations between Facebook and Apple.

At this stage, the app doesn't include the new features added to Facebook last month, such as Timeline.
