FYI, this story is more than a year old

Freelancer.com has revealed a revenue surge of 103% from 2012 during the company's first quarterly results, as the business continues to "fire on all cylinders."

Currently the world's largest outsourcing marketplace, the website also noted that extending into April it had experienced six months of triple digit year on year growth in revenue, up from 82% compound annually over the last 4 years.

“Revenue year on year has been accelerating almost monotonically since we started in 2009," said Matt Barrie, CEO, Freelancer.com.

Recent recipient of its fourth AIMIA in three years and third Webby Award, Freelancer.com is going from strength to strength according to Barrie.

With approximately 300 staff, offices on four continents and operations across the globe, Barrie believes 2013 is shaping up to be Freelancer’s marquee year.

The platform now comprises over 7.4 million professionals from 234 countries, regions and territories globally, eclipsing the combined sum of its two nearest competitors.

Today, over 4.5 million projects have been posted, beating the nearest competitors by a large margin, representing a combined value of over US$1.1 billion.

“The team here is firing on all cylinders, and we’re excited about how 2013 is shaping up," he said.
