Google wants YouTube users to reveal their identities in a bid to recognise abusive posters and cut down on vile internet comments.
The video-sharing website currently offers posters the chance to leave their details when leaving a comment with reasons required if declined.
But despite a tough comment policy, Google has responded to calls for tighter governing of its website after gaining a reputation of housing the sickest comments online.
Instead of displaying a pen name linked to your account, YouTube hopes to better tame its worst offenders through also allowing users to review existing content online.
While Google declined to comment in detail they released a brief statement saying:
"We’re working to improve comments as much as we’re working to improve all parts of the site and YouTube experience.”
