Guild Wars 2 beta tests ramp up
Thu, 15th Mar 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Those of you dying to get back into the land of Tyria will be happy to hear the pre-order details for Guild Wars 2 have been announced, and they include guaranteed access to the closed beta events which are taking place in preparation for the game’s release later this year.

As well as entry to beta events, pre-orders will also give players a three-day head-start prior to the launch of the game.

That might not seem like much, but that’s three days worth of picking usernames, characters and guild titles – not to mention three days of extra game time.

The beta events have proved to be very successful, with the test due to take place before the end of this month drawing one million registrations in just 48 hours.

Developers ArenaNet have also announced the contents of the Guild Wars 2 Collector’s Edition, including a 10-inch statue of the warrior Rytlock Brimstone wielding his signature flaming sword.

In-game, Collector’s Edition buyers will benefit from a Mistfire Wolf to fight alongside players, while those who pre-order will receive a stat-boosting Hero’s Band.

This sequel utilises a heavily modified version of the engine used in the original Guild Wars, introducing real-time 3D environments, enhanced graphics and a more dynamic battle system.

Although New Zealand prices are yet to be announced, the Collector’s Edition will retail at AUD $199.95 and the standard edition for AUD $89.95.

Pre-orders are available from April 10 – will you be placing one? Let us know below.
