FYI, this story is more than a year old

Joystiq reports that a remake of Xbox classic Halo: Combat Evolved for the Xbox 360 is due to hit shelves this holiday season, marking the original game's 10-year anniversary on November 15th.

Although the site doesn't disclose its sources, Joystiq claims that the game is in development at New Jersey studio Saber Interactive (TimeShift and the upcoming Inversion). The game is said to be completely remade with new art assets, although the audio is believed to stay unchanged. Of course, this is all happening under the watchful eye of 343 Industries, the Microsoft internal department now responsible for the Halo IP.

Rumours of a Halo remake have been circulating for some months now.
