Hands-on review: Olloclip 4-in-1 Photo Lens for iPhone
Fri, 23rd Oct 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The generation 6 of iPhones do have great cameras. This includes both the 6, 6S, 6 Plus and 6S Plus.

Although if you want to dump the digital camera and just travel with one device, you'll need some help in the lense department.

OlloClip is a Californian company that has developed very clever lenses for use with iPhones. The one we tested was on an iPhone 6 Plus.

The product actually has four lense options in the box.

  • Fisheye
  • Wide-angle
  • Macro 10X
  • Macro 15X

The lightweight yet steady unit snaps onto the top of your iPhone and covers both the front and the back facing cameras at the same time.

The fisheye and wide-angle lenses screw onto each side. You can then flip it around to change either the front of rear facing cameras to the lense you want. For real close-up shots you then unscrew one of these two lenses to access the Macro 10x or 15x lenses.

All four of the lenses are excellent; my favourite, the fisheye, really does extend the photo to almost the full 180 degrees.

The pack includes a great little pouch, a few of these handy storage pieces for when you don't need the lenses on your phone and some clear cases to keep your lenses clean.

This really is the perfect gift for the member of your family that loves photography and has a recent iPhone. They'll be thanking you that they no longer have to drag around their digital still camera anymore.
