Ingram to sell Apple, dealers to follow
Fri, 1st Oct 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

As The Channel revealed close to a month ago, both Apple and Ingram Micro have now confirmed a new arrangement for distribution in New Zealand.

Ingram Micro NZ has recruited veteran Mac Division Director Kelly Eyerman from its parent company in the US, to launch its local assault on the Mac market. The company is a key distributor of Apple products in many countries including Europe, India and North America.

Ingram is understood to be looking for three positions initially for the new business unit being established, a buyer, a product manager and a market development manager.

Although Renaissance has reported that it sees little impact from the announcement of an additional distributor, account managers from the organisation have been trying to establish dealer loyalty in recent days. Signs don't look good with a straw poll completed by The Channel revealing that nine out of nine Apple resellers questioned saying they would purchase from the new distributor, with availability of product being the most important factor.

Will this be Ingram Micro's biggest revenue growth opportunity in New Zealand?
