iOS App Review: Riffsy
Thu, 4th Jul 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Most people I text and email use hash tags in their everyday text language; no more are they only for Twitter, Instagram and (now) Facebook, for the sole purpose of tagging something or to sum up a certain kind of emotion, which is what I usually use them for. #deathbyhashtag.

What else can you use besides a hash tag to tell someone how you’re feeling, in a fun and quick way?

Well I’m glad you asked. The answer is Riffsy. Riffsy is the app the allows you to share the very best moments from movies, TV and video we all know and love, in the form of an animated gift that you can share with your friends.

Excited about something? Instead of #excited!, why not send a funny gift with someone jumping and down for a couple a seconds?

Share all those moments that make you laugh, feel inspired, feel sad about…whatever it is, Riffsy will have a video that allows you to communicate exactly what you’re feeling with your friends with instant sharing.

There are whole collections on the app, and you can follow your favourite collections or people. New clips are added every day so there are always plenty of videos to scroll through. There’s also a search field too; easy peasy.

Enjoy amazing gifs and looping videos that play instantly, on iPhone and iPad. They’ll play automatically in iMessages, email and Facebook. You’ll need iOS 6.0 or later, so make sure you’ve updated your phone.

I think hash tags are going to be around for quite some time, but send something different for a change. Try Riffsy.
