IRD email is a scam
Tue, 31st Aug 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The IRD has warned that an email currently being circulated, which promises a $609.30 refund to the recipient, is a hoax. The hoax email asks victims to click a link which directs them to a fake IRD site, which then asks for credit card details. Although the emails look official, the email is ostensibly sent by the 'Inland Revenue Service' rather than the actual 'Inland Revenue Department'. The IRD is advising those who receive the email to take no action other than deleting the email it immediately.
