Microsoft is holding a private Surface event in New York on May 20, where the tech giant is expected to unveil the new Surface Mini.

After sending out press invites to the media today, many believe the “Join us for a small gathering” message is the strongest hint yet of a smaller device release.

Rumours have been rife that Microsoft has been working on a 7-inch Surface tablet that could go into production this year, and while Redmond is keeping quiet on the rumours, many expect this to be confirmed at the event.
