Judge shuts down Facebook truancy group
Fri, 14th May 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

An Argentine judge has ordered that Facebook pages designed to coordinate student truancy should be shut down.

The judge, in the Argentine province of Mendoza, ordered "the immediate closure of groups...created by minors" which "promote truancy without the permission of their parents or the school system", after it was found that the Facebook page facilitated the truancy of 2000 students on April 30th 2010, in what is known as "Mendozan ditch-school day".

The case was brought before the judge at the request of a civic group aimed at reducing school truancy.
