Kiwis, get on board: EdTech market explodes

Thu, 30th Apr 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

EdTech for Export is hosting an eT4e conference this June in Wellington, with the aim of encouraging industry collaboration and networking in the field of education technology.

Education technology is a growing sector, with the smart education and learning market currently worth $121 billion globally and forecast to grow to $345 billion by 2019.

eT4e is a national forum that showcases the strength of the industry in New Zealand. The conference will unpack export success stories, provide global EdTech world views, and provide a platform for professional development opportunities around entrepreneurship and export with industry experts.

The event is designed for everyone and anyone interested in education technology, including tertiary education providers, ICT and application developers, e-publishing professionals, EdTech R-D companies, and teachers.

New Zealand already has a number of growing companies who are developing a diverse range of learning-focused products, including games, apps, educational software and courseware. This event is designed to encourage them to make the most of the export opportunities the EdTech industry offers.

As well as the education sector (pre-schools, schools, tertiary institutes and lifelong learning), other potential market channels include corporate and workplace training, and consumers waning personalised learning experiences.

In 2013, eT4e kick-started a process for developing a collaborative EdTech industry for New Zealand where networks and partnerships can be built for an EdTech exports future. This was organised by Education NZ and Grow Wellington.

The et4e conference returns in 2015 with a line up of both international and local key note speakers.

This year's event will take place on Thursday, June 18 at Te Papa – Museum of New Zealand.
