FYI, this story is more than a year old

LeapFrog Enterprises has released a product that brings together the digital and physical world, creating a new learning experience for kids.

LeapFrog Imagicard comprises of digital leaning games that are enhanced by 30+ interactive collective cards, featuring characters mixed with educational content.

The learning game has been designed for the new LeapPad Platinum, with its seven-inch high-resolution, multi-touch capacitive screen and improved processor.

LeapFrog Imagicard is also backwards compatible with all LeapFrog LeapPad tablets with the exception of LeapPad 1.

Kids use the camera to ‘capture' the card on the screen, which brings a character into the game and unlocks more ways to play.

"We were looking to create a physical and digital experience with LeapFrog Imagicard games that provided a more social and traditional learning environment, while still offering an incredibly engaging play experience for children," says Dr. Jody LeVos, LeapFrog director of learning.

"Through parent and child testing, we found that parents loved the idea of a collectible card experience that helped their children develop and grow as they played.

“And, children loved that they could bring their favourite characters to life in an interactive tablet experience, as well as collect and share cards with their friends.

“We know that children learn best when they're having fun, and our new LeapFrog Imagicard experience pays this off in a big way," she says.

LeapFrog Imagicard launches with three interactive games that feature various characters including LeapFrog's Letter Factory for ages 4-7, PAW Patrol for ages 3-5, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle for 5-8 year olds.

Each game features LeapFrog's proprietary Just For Me Learning Technology, which personalises the experience for each child by adapting automatically during play, offering tutorials, and more to keep kids challenged.

In addition to the multi-levelled downloadable digital game and interactive cards, LeapFrog Imagicard comes with a character card tin for storage, and a play mat for card sorting and offline learning activities.

All 30+ cards are digitally included in the game, so children can play the full games while on-the-go.

LeapFrog Imagicard (MSRP $24.99 per game, for children 3-8 years old) will be available online and at major retail locations in August 2015.

The LeapPad Platinum tablet (MSRP $129.99, for children 3-9 years old) will be available in green and pink in July 2015.
