If anyone is yet to be convinced that Apple is ready to take over the Universe, one astronomer has pointed out that the company managed to wipe out an entire galaxy in order to make its Lion desktop wallpaper prettier.

As reported by NZ Mac, a comparison of the wallpaper image and an actual image of the Andromeda galaxy taken by astrophotographer Robert Gendler can be found on Boing Boing, showing satellite galaxy M110 clearly absent.

Commentators have poked fun at the comparison, suggesting Apple's move was a message to Samsung, creators of the rival Galaxy devices.

Other notable comments on the post include "The galaxy is still there, but you have to enable it in preferences now,” and "Editing of this type, removing galaxies and so on, promotes unrealistic body images for universes, the effects of which can be devastating.
