Joystiq reports that Capcom has announced the cancellation of Mega Man Universe on the game's official Japanese website. Reportedly, the reasons given are vague and due to "various circumstances".

Mega Man Universe, originally due for release on Xbox LIVE Arcade and the PlayStation Network later this year, was to feature remade, classic Mega Man levels while also offering players level-creation tools and character customisation. The game's impressive, animated debut trailer ramped up considerable interest in the game partway through last year.
