Mother selling kids on Facebook - society does NOT like this
Wed, 13th Mar 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Facebook has many uses through out the world, but an online forum for child trafficking in Oklahoma is not one of them.

Misty VanHorn would beg to differ however, after allegedly offering her two children for US$5,000 on the social networking site.

Take a deep breath, you'll need it.

The 22-year-old 'mother', the pic above says it all, was apparently on a love-crazed quest to earn bail money for her boyfriend, who was facing charges unknown to the press.

Not that anybody cares given the atrocious nature of VanHorn's actions.

"She was going door to door, here to all the way across town asking everybody for money to get him out," a neighbour said.

But after hitting a brick wall, VanHorn clearly found solace in her Facebook wall, asking a Fort Smith woman to foot the bill in exchange for her two young children.

Demanding $1,000 for her 10-month child and $4,000 for her two-year-old, the callous VanHorn was caught out through a message sent over the weekend.

"Just come to Sallisaw, it's only 30 minutes away and I'll give you all of her stuff and let y'all have her forever for $1,000," it read.

Anybody who uses y'all in their vocabulary frankly deserves to be jailed, bolted away and have the key threw away.

But English language issues aside, Oklahoma police are currently holding VanHorn on a $40,000 bond, with the children in the custody of the state.

Wonder what she will have to sell to reach $40,000?

Clearly thinking you CAN actually out a price on the worth of your child, VanHorn may well be charged with a federal crime given Fort Smith is in neighbouring state Arkansas.

One can hope, for the sake of humanity, that such a horror of a person is kept away from her children, and those of others for an incredibly long time.

And while Facebook have been unintentionally cast into the world spotlight, unfriending her from not only the site, but the world may be the best option.

In fact, TechDay likes this.
