New Xbox 'facts' revealed?
Fri, 19th Apr 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Every rumour surrounding the next-generation Xbox, code-named Durango, has been called into question today after an unknown source revealed new ‘facts’ about the console.

First and foremost, as a little disclaimer, let’s take all of this with a very decent-sized grain of salt; actually, let’s make it a spoonful.

None of this is confirmed by Microsoft and as such could be as big a load of crock as any other rumour. Moving on.

The short document released by this source on the Neogaf forums and in a few other places is at times a bit mean, particularly to everyone who “actually believed the online-required rumour”.

“You’re either stupid, very gullible, or a fanboy...you are not required to be connected to the internet in order to play Durango games and MS were NEVER considering doing such a thing. Please, just read that last sentence over and over again until it sinks in. Done? Good.”

Well, won’t we all just feel a tad silly if this proves to be true.

On top of that, what we’ve seen of the rumoured specs are apparently true, but what’s even more cool is that apparently the new console will be 100 per cent backwards compatible.

“One tiny little detail that MS kept guarded from most devs until recently...every Durango ships with a Xbox 360 SOC...what does this mean in basic terms? Well, apart from Durango having 100% BC with the 360, it also increases Durango’s processing power a fair amount.

Other changes are pretty unexciting to me, although you can check out the full list of additions and features here; bear in mind this may well be a load of...hoohah. Yes, hoohah.

Some of you may also be relieved to know that the controller will remain largely untouched.

Taking these new specs seriously? Or is it a load of bollocks? Let us know in the comments.
