New year brings new CEO for Eagle Technology
Wed, 1st Mar 2017
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The new year brought a wave of things for a lot of us (mostly headaches), but for Eagle Technology, it brought change.

The privately held New Zealand-owned systems integration and information management company recently appointed Mark Allan as its CEO, following the retirement of its former CEO in January, Gary Langford.

Mark reports to the board of Eagle Technology, having previously spent four months Advisor to the Board. Mark joined Eagle from Downer New Zealand, where he was the Executive General Manager of the Technology Solutions Division, a role he held for seven years.

According to executive director at Eagle Technology, Duane Eagle, bringing Mark in is all to do with change within the company – with an emphasis on geographic information systems (GIS).

“Mark's appointment reflects the direction that Eagle Technology is taking as a full service GIS, Communications and Managed Services provider, a unique position in the New Zealand market,” says Eagle.

This is ideal given Mark's previous position at Downer New Zealand, where he was the executive general manager of the Technology Solutions Division, a role he held for seven years.

Mark‘s role at Downer, responsible for Telecommunications, GIS, Power-Gas and Intelligent Transport Solutions, included the implementation of the Esri ArcGIS platform. The project won a Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) award at the Esri International User Conference (2013) - Eagle Technology is the distributor for Esri in New Zealand.

Mark sees his new role as an opportunity to communicate the value of GIS and related technologies to a wider audience.

“Smart GIS now has the proven ability to connect people, processes, assets and equipment to deliver improved efficiency, collaboration, visibility and communication,” Mark says.

“Real time situational awareness, seamless communication and control are becoming key drivers for the increasing demand from customers to deliver better value, more agility and continuous improvement.

Eagle Technology was established in 1969 and has approximately 90 employees with offices in Auckland and Wellington.
