News: Apple Configurator, iTunes 10.6, other software updates, and more!
Thu, 8th Mar 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

It's not strictly Mac-related, but it is a new Mac app from Apple themselves. It's the new Configurator, which allows users to manage multiple iOS devices by administering up to 30 devices at a time. The new tool is primarily aimed at IT departments who need standardised settings across a whole fleet of iPads or iPhones, such as in government departments or schools.

Apple also released iTunes 10.6 yesterday to bring it up to speed with some of the improvements in the new Apple TV. Namely, iTunes 10.6 brings the ability to play 1080p content from the iTunes Store, as well as a few improvements for iTunes Match.

ITunes 10.6 is now available in Software Update, or from the Apple downloads page. Apple also released a slightly updated version of iPhoto 11, which now allows you to delete individual photos from your Photo Stream, as well as the usual miscellaneous fixes for iOS 5 and iCloud.

Not to be left out, Skype was also updated today. The new version brings a nice automatic updating feature, now works with the native full-screen feature you're used to in Lion, and even has an updated UI for group video calling.

Mac AppStorm takes a look at Drops, a way to upload and share files quickly on your Mac. Unlike what its name seems to suggest, it doesn't use the Droplr service to do so, instead using its own cloud solution.
