News: patents for Apple Store design, Apple events in the spotlight, apps for Mac users, and more!
Wed, 21st Mar 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Apple and Steve Jobs have won patents for the design of the Shanghai Apple Store. The design of the Apple Store in Pudong, Shanghai bears certain similarities to the well-known Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York, with the majority of the store being underground and with only the large glass cylinder visible from ground level. Lex Friedman from Macworld explains why Apple events seem to dominate the spotlight.

Admittedly there's quite a bit of bias here (yours truly included) but what's undeniable is the fact that if you follow technology news on the web, you're bound to come across a few articles about Apple events here and there. Rumours are another matter entirely, but Apple news just seems to dominate the news.

From Dropbox to the Unarchiver, Pages to VLC, Mac AppStorm has a list of 10 must-have apps for new Mac users. Somewhat reminds me of an article by Stephen Hackett from a little while ago, which detailed which apps he would chose to occupy the first 64 GB of space on a MacBook Air.

A cool trick from OS X Daily, who say you can sleep your Mac using the remote control by simply pressing and holding the Play button for about 5-8 seconds.
