Next Gears 2 XP Event won't be capped
Epic Games' executive producer Rod Fergusson has announced yet another XP event for Gears of War 2. This time, however, the experience multiplier will be dictated by the number of Gears of War fans on Facebook (as opposed to Twitter followers for the last event).
Fergusson grossly underestimated the level of interest in the event last time around; he announced that he would divide the total number of his Twitter followers by 500 by the time July's San Diego Comic Convention kicked off. His followers swelled from some 4000 to over 10,000 in a matter of days, forcing Fergusson to cap the promotion at 10,000 followers. This translated to 20x XP, which was a significant upgrade to the previous two events of 3x and 8x XP.
However, Fergusson has declared via Twitter that he is "not going to cap it this time", although the number of fans will be divided by 1000 as opposed to 500. At the time of writing, the Gears of War Facebook page had more than 11,000 fans, which translates to an 11x multiplier.
This Gears of War 2 XP Event is scheduled to take place around the US Labor Day (September 7th NZ time).
