As an important extension of Norrcom ICT services for Kiwi schools, the ICT installations company will be distributing Google Chromebooks to schools across the country.

After announcing the internet search engine as it's distribution partner, Norrcom says it recommended Chromebooks because they "do not need lengthy startup times or tedious training."

The company already manages entire ICT infrastructures for many leading schools around the country, with this deal strengthening their position in the market.

Not only can schools provide Chromebooks however, but students can bring their own device (BYOD) into their lessons and Norrcom can easily manage them remotely.

“This is a big step for our company considering the fiercely competitive ICT market,” said Paul Norris, MD, Norrcom.

"It is evident that we can provide first class service and support to schools.

"Google recognises our strong reputation for honest dealing with schools contending with slashed budgets, financial pressures, an ever changing ICT roadmap, we dislike spending excesses when we know many workable, cost-effective options are available. This agreement merely strengthens our position.

Commenting on the deal, Adam Naor, Google’s Chromebook Asia Pacific regional manager, said: “After Google reviewed a range of national and local ICT service providers in New Zealand, we wanted to do business with Norrcom."
