Mon, 8th Aug 2016
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Oompher is an inspirational video platform acquired by Careers New Zealand in 2015. The organisation aims to encourage young New Zealanders to open their minds to opportunities and act on their dreams.

This evening, the platform is launching ‘Oompher Web Series One', an eight-part web series featuring an array of talented young kiwis. First up are the Nordstrom sisters-in-law, the dynamic duo behind the infamous Soldiers Rd Portraits.

Oompher host Johnson Raela, says they're an inspiration to every young Kiwi who has had a promising idea and dreamt of where it could take them.

“Their story is the first of a powerful eight part Web Series featuring a talented array of young Kiwis who have discovered that something extraordinary can happen when you take a brave step into the unknown.

The pair can claim fans in New York, Utah, LA and Australia as subjects as they expand their business to the world.

Careers New Zealand channels and digital resources general manager, Jane Ratcliffe, says the first Oompher Web Series continues to deliver on their vision of helping young Kiwis to open minds to opportunities.

“Whether it's the Nordstrom sisters-in-law, a circus theatre company founder, or a female building apprentice, Web Series One celebrates everyday Kiwis whose stories exemplify the essence of what Oompher is all about - that you don't have to follow traditional pathways to achieve personal or professional success, and that hard work, resilience and persistence are important life skills to achieving that success.

Over the next eight weeks, viewers will get to meet a number of different young kiwis making their way in the world.
