Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale goes gold

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale has officially gone gold on the PS3 and PS Vita, with new details emerging on what we can expect from the much-anticipated title.

DLC for the game has already been confirmed, but Sony’s Seth Killian has added they won’t be releasing a half-done DLC.

He wrote on the PS Blog that DLC characters “would have all the features that the launch-day cast would have,” which includes backstory, rivals and single-player campaign mode.

Many people have looked at the All-Stars format and questioned its longevity, but Killian has addressed that too.

“Beyond arcade mode with intros, endings, and rival cut-scenes for every character and all the multiplayer stuff, All-Stars has tons of interesting challenges and trials (both overall trials and character-specific stuff).”

He says with the amount of unlockable content and stuff to master, there’s potentially a massive amount of playtime.

“Certainly it’s hundreds of hours of content there, and a very extensive set of unlocks, from titles, to taunts, to character-specific intro and outro moves, musical themes, badgets, etc.”

The final boss for the game has also been revealed as Polygon Man, the former mascot for the PS in North America way back in 1995.

He appeared in advertisements for the console prior to its launch, but was dropped in favour of game characters like Parappa the Rapper and Crash Bandicoot – perhaps he has returned some 17 years later to wreak his revenge?
