FYI, this story is more than a year old

The new Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3, goes on sale today, and looks set to break the five-day entertainment industry revenue record held by last year’s addition to the franchise, Black Ops.

Publishers Activision say they have received more pre-orders for MW3 than they did for Black Ops, which pulled in a massive US$650 million worldwide in its first five days.

Prior to Black Ops, the record was held by Modern Warfare 2, which raked in US$550 million.

We’ll have a review of CoD: MW3 coming soon.
