Release of future Heavy Rain DLC in doubt
Fri, 2nd Jul 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Heavy Rain's director David Cage told Eurogamer that planned future downloadable content (DLC) for Heavy Rain may not see the light of day anymore. The reason? Incorporating PlayStation Move has stolen developmental resources away from the project, and Cage is not prepared to compromise on quality for the Heavy Rain Chronicles DLC.

"Chronicles, as we saw them, were ambitious and with high expectations," said Cage to Eurogamer. "As explained, they are on hold to allow the team to work on Move and on new projects, and I doubt they will ever be produced."

Cage points out that the decision to reallocate developmental resources to Move support for Heavy Rain was not his to make, and no one is more disappointed that Chronicles has been shelved than he. ""My personal choice was to work on more Chronicles explaining the background of each character. The stories were very strong and would have been very surprising for all Heavy Rain fans. Sony wanted more AAA adult games to support the Move and they thought that Heavy Rain was the perfect fit."

Despite his disappointment, Cage told Eurogamer that he's very proud of the way the Move-enabled Heavy Rain has turned out. ""I understand Sony's decision and it gave us the opportunity to explore new possibilities regarding controls. I am really proud of this Move edition and think it will surprise many gamers and show that Move can be used for things other than family entertainment."
