Review: Rapoo E6300 BT Keyboard for iPad
Wed, 1st Aug 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Writing long emails or documents on an iPad can be pretty difficult with a touch-screen keyboard. The Rapoo Ultra-slim Wireless Keyboard for iPad is a good solution for those who use their mobile devices more like a computer.

The keyboard is incredibly slim with iPad specific hot keys such as a home button, photo slideshow, music playback, and screen-lock functions. The back of the keyboard has a brushed metal finish with plastic for the lithium battery, switch, connect button, battery, and connectivity light indicators.

Comes with a Quick Start Guide, and a Micro USB B-Type charging cable. Connection via Bluetooth 3.0 - no need for any extra receivers or cables. A built-in rechargeable lithium battery charges in two hours and can last up to an impressive total of one month of use. Keyboard measures at W: 20.5cm H: 8cm and less than 2cm thick – it is incredibly light. Rubber feet on the base help ensure the keyboard doesn't slide on hard surfaces.

Pros

  • Built-in Lithium Battery means longer battery life.
  • Hot keys designed for word processing.
  • Light, slim, and strong.
  • Very easy to connect and operate.
Cons
  • USB charging cable is not the more common mini USB 5-pin B-type - finding a replacement may be a bit tricky.
  • Keys are small with no spacing between.
  • Keys are plastic and flimsy.
The Verdict

The Rapoo Ultra-slim Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad met my expectation of being 'ultra-slim'. Battery life and ease of use was impressive but unfortunately it fell short when it came to functionality. With the slim design seeming to be Rapoo’s only priority, the use of the keyboard became frustrating due to the smaller size and lack of spacing between keys (keep in mind I also have small hands!) If you're looking for a keyboard where size and weight is of concern, then Rapoo's Ultra-slim Keyboard would fit the bill.
