Research In Motion (RIM) today officially launched the BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone in New Zealand.

The phone has a touch screen with a slide out BlackBerry keyboard. The phone comes with RIMs newest OS, BlackBerry 6 which, they say includes expanded messaging capabilities and intuitive management of social networking and RSS feeds, along with integrated access to BlackBerry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter and more instant messaging applications.

The new OS also features tabbed browsing ability as well as all the familiar features of a touch-screen device.

The phones retail from Vodafone (RRP $1199) and Telecom (RRP $1099).
