Which GPU will give you the most bang for your buck?
Mon, 12th Feb 2018
FYI, this story is more than a year old

For generations, the performance of a graphics card has been limited by the GPU.

It is virtually impossible to realistically achieve matching performance to the next GPU up mainly due to the performance gap between GPU product segmentation.

Only rarely will we see a handful of graphics cards that break this limit.

At last, we finally found another one, the ROG-STRIX-GTX1070TI-A8G-GAMING. Let's check out what it has to offer.

At the heart of the ROG-STRIX-GTX1070TI-A8G-GAMING is Nvidia's latest GeForce GTX1070Ti GPU.

Don't be fooled by its name, it actually more of a brother of GTX1080 than the GTX1070.

The GTX1070Ti actually features the same GP104 graphics core as the GTX1080, with only 5% less CUDA core, and 3% lower default Boost clock.

This means it will be able to go head to head with a real GTX1080 without significant overclocking.

Even if you are unfamiliar with overclocking, ASUS made it nice and easy by integrating their preset overclock profile in their GPUTweakII software.

All you need is a simple click on the OC button to receive the instant performance boost.

What we found most attractive is the 2.5 slot STRIX MaxContact cooler features IP5X certified Wind-Blade fans, which is only available for top GPUs like the GTX1080Ti.

This special offering keeps the GPU at a massive 47% cooler than reference cards, reaching just over 60°C running 3DMark at stock.

This efficient cooler not only allows GPUBoost 3.0 to boost to an even higher Boost clock, it also keeps your system whispering quietly at all times; even under maximum load.

If you are into personalizing your build, you will definitely be pleased with the ROG-STRIX-GTX1070TI-A8G-GAMING.

Like its big brother ROG-STRIX-GTX1080Ti-O11G-GAMING, it also features the same Aura Sync lighting and 4pin Aura Sync header to synchronize lighting effects inside out.

You can also synchronize your chassis fans with the GPU by connecting chassis fan headers to the two FanConnect II headers on the card, activating the intake ventilation only when necessary.

Despite the outstanding hardware, ASUS also throw in a bunch of great value software. There is 1-year XSplit Gamecaster premium license (valued at $99 USD) for streamers to easily stream or record gameplay via a convenient, in-game overlay.

The overlay also displays GPU clock speed, temperature, and VRM usage, as well as GPU Tweak II, controls for you to change your performance profile on the fly.

There is even a quick Game Booster button in GPU Tweak II to help you quickly prepare your OS ready for gaming if required. Starting 2018, they also throw in a 6-month wtfast Premium license (valued at $53.95 USD) in case you need to further reduce your game pings breaking the limit of your ISP.

The ROG-STRIX-GTX1070TI-A8G-GAMING truly offers amazing value at its asking price, just right for gaming setup up to 2160p WHQD resolution.

Not only it handles smooth AAA title at max settings, it handles them without the irritation of fan noise, and with style.

We won't hesitate to recommend ROG-STRIX-GTX1070TI-A8G-GAMING to any gamers for their next upgrade.
