Rumour: premium, paid PSN in the works
Tue, 18th May 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Popular gaming website VG247 reports that "a highly placed source" claims that Sony will announce a premium PlayStation Network subscription plan at E3 in Los Angeles next month.

According to VG247 the service will cost around US$70 (approximately NZ$100) per year. The premium package will include one free PSN game from up to four available per month and also give the user access to a yet-to-be announced streaming music service. It’s speculated that this service will allow the streamed audio to run in the background while games are played.

VG247’s source also claims that the existing PSN service will remain unaffected; subscribers will still be able to play online multiplayer games and access demos and videos free of charge.
