Samsung fans: The wait is over. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are officially on sale across New Zealand starting today.
Todd Selwyn of Samsung NZ says that the response to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ has been positive, both at home and overseas.
“The pre-order demand for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in New Zealand has surpassed all expectations. We have seen over 400 per cent year on year growth, which is our largest pre order ever,” he explains.
Samsung believes the strong growth will continue, claiming that Kiwis are gravitating towards larger screens on smartphones.
“According to GFK, in Q1 this year over 55 per cent of mobile phone sales in the New Zealand market were attributed to devices with screens over five inches,” Selwyn says.
“Samsung has always led the way in creation of the larger screen smartphone category, and with Galaxy S8’s infinity display we’ve taken the innovation a step further as the 5.8” and 6.2” screens still fit easily in the hand.”
Samsung is also launching some of their new gadgets today, including the New Gear VR with it’s new controller, the new 360-degree Gear 360 camera, and the Samsun DeX which allows smartphones to connect to a monitor for a desktop experience.
With a purchase of one of the new smartphones, you will receive a free three-month trial of Google Play Music.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ is on sale nationwide at 9am from today (5th May 2017), through Vodafone, Spark, 2 Degrees, several retailers and on Samsung’s website.
