Samsung has threatened to start a tech war with Microsoft, after publicly bashing the company's Windows 8 platform.
Speaking to Korea Times, president of Samsung's memory chip division Jun Dong-soo made his thoughts clear about the software giant, with the following harsh words:
“I think the Windows 8 system is no better than the previous Windows Vista platform," he said.
Seemingly peeved at the contracting PC industry, Dong-soo laid at the blame at Microsoft's door, taking swipes at both Windows 8 and Surface.
“The global PC industry is steadily shrinking despite the launch of Windows 8,” he said.
"Microsoft's roll out of its Windows Surface tablet is seeing lacklustre demand."
Damning comments it would appear. But Dong-soo was not finished yet, linking the poor attach rate for ultrabooks to Microsoft's "less-competitive Windows platform."
“Previous vigorous pitches by Intel and MS for thinner ultra-books simply failed and I believe that’s mostly because of the less-competitive Windows platform," he said.
Sometimes, quotes can act as standalone stories. And on this occasion, Dong-soo has produced the narrative all by himself. But what will be the consequences?
