Skype for iPhone gains multitasking support
Fri, 23rd Jul 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Following the roll-out of Apple's iOS4 for iPhone, Skype is among the latest batch of apps to receive an update allowing it to run in the background while other apps are used.

“During a call, you can keep the conversation going while you switch to another task such as checking a movie listing or reading an email,” wrote Skype representative Peter Parkes on the service's official blog.

This follows an update in May that allowed iPhone users to make Skype calls over 3G-data connections (where previously Skype for iPhone was limited to wi-fi connections only). Skype no longer charges a supplementary fee for calls made over 3G networks.
