Skyrim showcases new Xbox content

Wed, 5th Dec 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

If you’re still playing Skyrim on your Xbox 360 (unlikely) then you’ll be happy to hear a whole lot of new content is available, including new quests, new weapons and the power to ride dragons.

The new Dragonborn downloadable content is now live on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 1600 Microsoft points.

Although that’s not the cheapest lot of DLC you’ll ever see, it is a fairly hefty update weighing in at 786 MB and apparently adding more than 30 hours of gameplay to the title.

Dragonborn brings players to the island of Solstheim to battle the very first Dragonborn, and will introduce new weapons and items including Bonemold, Chitin, Nordic and Stalhrim armour sets.

New enemies on the island are Seekers, Ash Spawn and Werebears, but there have been no reports of being able to turn into a werebear. Which is kind of depressing, given that a werebear sounds infinitely superior to a werewolf for some reason.

And of course the DLC will give you the chance to ride dragons. Enough said, really.

If you have the game on PS3 and all this content has you hyperventilating and weeping gently, Bethesda Softworks announced yesterday the Dragonborn DLC will come to the PC and PS3 early next year.

“We’re less than 24 hours away from unleashing Skyrim’s next add-on Dragonborn on Xbox Live. It’s one of our most ambitious add-ons ever and we’re excited for everyone to play it,” a post on Bethesda’s blog reads.

“We’re also happy to announce Dragonborn will be available on PS3 and PC early next year.”

That seems like a good sign that the already released DLC for the game might eventually come to the PS3 also, but as usual I’d strongly advise anyone with a PS3 not to hold their breath.
