Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

In 2013, the US Army introduces the Integrated Warfighter System (IWS), a complex combination of cutting-edge technologies which have the capability to transform an individual soldier into the ultimate fighting force. IWS combines advanced weapons systems, satellite communication devices and enhanced survivability into one fully integrated combat system that is finally ready for the true test of the battlefield.
Combining the advantages of next-generation console technology with future military technologies, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon 3 includes a wealth of groundbreaking features, such as the Cross-Com, a communication device attached to the soldier’s monocle and powered by satellite technology, which will deliver constant and complete battlefield awareness seamlessly within the action. Using this and your own tactical ability, you can control your AI team-mates to strategic positions for cover, use them to scout new territory or to simply hold an area. Everything about this game, from the way your men move and take cover on your command through to the weapons (bullets will actually penetrate soft-materials now allowing you to shoot through tents and plaster walls) is realistically detailed down to an extreme. And the XBOX 360 and PC versions really are stunning to watch. Luckily, Ubisoft haven’t forgotten about non-360 owners and the current-generation versions of the game have been custom-built and are equally presentable. Another nice touch is the option of playing the game either in third-person or in traditional first-person fashion.
The game takes place in Mexico City where you and your squad have been deployed to neutralise the conflict and regain control of the area. Your team members can be easily commanded to take cover, peek round corners or hold ground and thanks to some clever AI coding react like real soldiers in battle (the Cross-Com comes in real handy here showing you exactly what your men are looking at). Like the weaponry in Advanced Warfighter, the headgear and other pieces of equipment, are all based on their real-world counterparts with a large amount of choices there to ‘empower players.’ The XBox Live functions of Ghost Recon are what really set this game apart. There are a ton of different and well-built maps and the standard game modes to get into, plus the ability to select your class (Rifleman, Grenadier, Automatic Rifleman, and Marksman), and physical appearance. With voice communication and the tech equipment you can use – multiplayer co-op in Ghost Recon is truly a military-like experience.
