Toshiba reveals new Windows 10 optimised laptops

Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD) has announced new Satellite S Series laptops that include features built for Windows 10, the latest performance technologies, and a new 4K Ultra HD screen option.

“Satellite S Series laptops are a powerhouse platform for productivity,” says Philip Osako, Toshiba Digital Products Division senior director of product marketing.

“Full-featured and packed with premium components in an all-new stunning design, these laptops provide the ultimate entertainment and productivity experience for those who require it in their everyday lives.

The two screen options are 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) IPS display, Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) or HD+ (1600x900) TruBrite multi-touch display.

The laptops also provide a built-in DVD SuperMulti drive allows users to play music or watch DVD movies.

Built with Windows 10 in mind, the Satellite S Series offers Toshiba's TruTalk dual-array microphones that enable voice apps like Cortana and Skype, plus a dedicated Cortana key for access to Microsoft's personal digital assistant.

The laptops also include the latest generation 802.11ac Wi-Fi, plus Bluetooth for connecting enabled phones, printers and speakers.

The laptops feature 5th generation Intel quad-core and dual-core processor options. Users can have up to 2TB of storage in single hard drive configuration, or with a 1TB hard drive with an additional 128GB solid state drive up to 16GB of memory and optional discrete graphics by NVIDIA.

All are equipped with a high-capacity SD card slot, USB Sleep - Charge technology and an HDMI port capable of 4K output.

The 15.6-inch model includes three Super Speed USB 3.0 ports and the 17.3-inch model includes two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports.

The Satellite S Series has built-in Harman Kardon stereo speakers and DTS Sound plus exclusive Slipstream port technology in the speakers,

The laptops measure under one-inch thick and weigh around 2kg. They include a buttonless touchpad with multi-gesture control and a frameless TruType keyboard with LED-backlit contoured keys.

The new Satellite S Series laptops will be available on July 29, 2015 at major retailers, e-tailers and direct from Toshiba, starting at $719.99 MSRP for the 15.6-inch model and $874.99 MSRP for the 17.3-inch model.

The laptops will initially ship with Windows 8.1 pre-installed, however, the series qualifies for a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it becomes available on July 29th.
