FYI, this story is more than a year old

If you feel like spending your day underground with some communists, you're in luck, as the latest gameplay demo for Metro: Last Light has just been released.

The upcoming post-apocalyptic first-person shooter is set for release in early 2013, but you can get an early look at the gameplay now in this 13-minute demo, complete with mutant dog-creatures, skeletons and hallucinations.

For those of you who haven't heard anything about the game yet, Metro: Last Light is based in post-apocalyptic Moscow, where the majority of the population have been living underground in the metro system for 20 years.

Combining elements of the survival and first-person shooter genres, players must fight off mutants and other enemies while trying to survive during missions above and below ground.

A first-person shooter with an actual storyline could be a big-seller, seeing as many question the plot development in the bar-setting Call of Duty series.

Last Light is a sequel to Metro 2033, based on the novel by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. That game was released in 2010 and received strong reviews, Metacritic giving the PC version 81/100.

If the live-action trailer is anything to go by, Ukrainian developers 4A have stepped up their game for the sequel, especially seeing as the gameplay trailer earned over 20 E3 nominations and awards.
