TVNZ to broadcast global gaming content
TVNZ has announced its exclusive partnership with Ginx TV, a global operator of video gaming channels, for access to Ginx gaming content, which will broadcast on the new youth channel U from March 13th.
"Video gaming is an increasingly popular entertainment option for New Zealanders but until now hasn't had much in the way of mainstream exposure," said Eric Kearley, TVNZ's head of digital channels and digital media. "On U we'll cater for people who want to learn more about games, trial games and experience new games in a broadcast environment."
According to a press release from TVNZ, "Ginx TV is the world's leading and fastest-growing global operator of video-gaming channels and producer of gaming television shows". Its content is aired in the UK, Spain, South Africa, Israel and the Middle East, with 24/7 channels available in Indonesia and Turkey.
The Ginx gaming content, including such titles as The Ginx Files, Gameface, Faster, Games Evolved, That Hollywood Thing and Gamesport, will air each night on U at 10.30pm.
