Ultrafast Fibre to connect 23 more schools by June
Thu, 22nd Mar 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Waikato UFB builder Ultrafast Fibre has announced it will connect an additional 23 schools to its high-speed internet network by June this year, bringing the total number of schools it has hooked up to 32.

The schools, located in Hamilton, Wanganui, Tauranga and New Plymouth, will be connected as part of the company’s second deployment. The first, which took place between July 2011 and January 2012, connected 9 schools in Hamilton, Wanganui and Tauranga.

The company is also responsible for builds in Te Awamutu, Cambridge, Tokoroa and Hawera.

Maxine Elliott, CEO of Ultrafast Fibre, says she knows of two schools that have already invested in in-house infrastructure so they can start running UFB as quickly as possible.

"Tapping into the power of ultrafast broadband is expected to completely transform the classroom learning experience,” Elliott says.

"Plus, parents will get the opportunity to have a closer relationship when it comes to understanding their child’s learning process.

"For instance, a child will be able to upload a video of their assembly speech for parents to watch, anywhere, anytime.”
