Microsoft’s Bing search engine has just announced a series of new features, some of which are powered by the Wolfram Alpha ‘answer engine’. The changes mean that Bing users can now perform complicated computations through the Bing interface. For example, Bing users can type in mathematical problems and get, not only the answer, but also a graph plotting the equation and result. Searchers can also look up specific information such as the population of countries, and the nutritional content of food items, and carry out computations on the returned information.
