Zuckerberg introduces Timeline at f8
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has used the company's f8 developer conference to announce big new changes to the gargantuan social network, in steps designed to counter the threat of Google's rival network, Google+.
The biggest change, Timeline, is designed to take advantage of Facebook's legacy status, allowing users to access and display all of the information they have ever posted to the site.
"Imagine if there was an easy way to rediscover the things you shared, and collect all your best moments in a single place," reads a post on the Facebook blog.
"With Timeline, now you have a home for all the great stories you've already shared. They don't just vanish as you add new stuff.
Users can mark their favourite posts to double their size, or hide things they'd rather forget. If important things aren't included, users can go back and add them.
"Now, you and your friends will finally be able to tell all the different parts of your story – from the small things you do each day to your biggest moments.
Timeline is already enabled for mobile devices, and will be rolled out across the site in the next few weeks.
