Apple TV app launches on Android with new features
The Apple TV app is now available for download on Android devices, bringing new streaming options to Android users.
Android users can access the Apple TV app through Google Play on phones, tablets, and foldable devices, enabling them to subscribe to Apple TV+ and the MLS Season Pass. The application provides access to a range of Apple Original films and series, as well as Major League Soccer content. "Android customers can download the Apple TV app to subscribe to Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass," Apple stated in its release.
The Apple TV app, which has been specifically developed for Android, offers a user-friendly interface familiar to Apple users. Using the Google Play account, Android users can subscribe to Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass on both mobile and Google TV devices. New subscribers can take advantage of a seven-day free trial.
Key features of the app include "Continue Watching," allowing users to pick up where they left off on any device, and "Watchlist," which enables users to track content they wish to view in the future. The service supports streaming over both Wi-Fi and cellular connections, and provides an option to download content for offline viewing.
Apple TV+ presents a broad selection of content, including drama and comedy series, feature films, and documentaries. Popular titles available on the platform include "Severance," "Slow Horses," "Morning Wars," "Presumed Innocent," "Shrinking," "Hijack," "Loot," "Palm Royale," "Masters of the Air," and "Ted Lasso." In terms of films, users can watch titles such as "Wolfs," "The Instigators," "The Family Plan," "Killers of the Flower Moon," and "CODA."
With the new addition of the Apple TV app on Android, users can subscribe to the MLS Season Pass. This service, available via the Apple TV app, implies access to every MLS match without blackouts, along with exclusive content and detailed coverage. The season will begin with all 30 MLS clubs in action from 22 February, marking the league's 30th anniversary season.
For the 2025 season, Apple TV+ subscribers will have the opportunity to tune into "Sunday Night Soccer," a primetime event offering some of the league's most exciting matchups each week.
Since its introduction on 1 November, 2019, Apple TV+ has emerged as the first streaming service to present all-original content worldwide at its launch. The platform has achieved numerous accolades, garnering 538 wins and over 2,553 award nominations, including recognition for Emmy Award-winning comedy series "Ted Lasso" and Oscar Best Picture winner "CODA."
