Assassin's Creed animated movie detailed
Ubisoft have released details of Assassin’s Creed Embers, a computer generated animated short film that will be released with the latest chapter of the Assassin’s Creed saga in November.
The film rounds off the story of Ezio Auditore, the titular assassin from Assassins Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Revelations. This final story draws to a close a tale spanning over 40 years.
The animation has been produced by produced by Ubiworkshop, Ubisoft’s inhouse creative studio charged with expanding the company’s properties beyond the medium of video gaming. Ubiworkshop were also responsible for the DC comic, Assassin’s Creed: The Fall.
This isn’t the first time the Ubisoft have complemented an Assassin’s Creed game with a short film. In 2009 Ubisoft released a cinematic prequel to Assassin’s Creed II called Assassin’s Creed: Lineage. The three-part short, just over half an hour in length, featured a hybrid of live action filmed against a green screen with CGI backgrounds- in a similar way to the films 300 and Sin City. The detailed computer generated backgrounds and environments were produced using hi-res renderings of the 3D models used in the game.
Assassin’s Creed fans that opt to go for the one of the special collector’s editions of Assassin’s Creed Revelations will find a DVD copy of the Assassin’s Creed Embers animated movie included in the pack. Two specially packaged versions of the game have been announced for New Zealand.
The Collector’s Edition, which will be available from JB Hi-Fi and Mighty Ape, comes in a special Collector’s Edition box and features a 50-page art book, the game soundtrack, the Assassin’s Creed Embers animated movie, an extra level and two multiplayer characters. The Animus Edition, which is exclusive to EB Games, comes with an encyclopaedia, the Assassin’s Creed Embers animated movie, an extra level, in-game weapons perks, a set of armour, and two multiplayer characters all packaged up in a special Animus Edition box.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations will be the fourth game in the series to be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC when it hits the shops on 15th November.
