CES: Intel processor allows home 3D recording

An Intel demonstration at the Consumer Electronics Show showcased its Core i7 processor – the fastest processor in the world – which can render 3D video from the feeds of two high-definition cameras.

Where 3D recording typically requires expensive studio-grade technology, Intel’s CES demo saw two HD camcorders duct taped together as a makeshift 3D camera, which the Core i7 processor turned into a 3D movie.“We see 3D moving from the studios to the home, and we’re providing the computing horsepower to do it,” said Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel Corporation.

The company also introduced a new technology called Intel Wireless Display (WiDi), which transmits high-definition video from a Core i3 or Core i5 laptop to your television via wi-fi. An adaptor peripheral is required so that your television can receive the signal.
